Text of Complaint by Ravi Somani:

This is regarding my mobile billing by Vodafone India. My mobile number is 9321548626 and before last month I had basic post paid plan of Rs 99 only.  My billing cycle is 12th to 11th of every month and it was February 11 when I received a message from Vodafone saying that base plan is revised to Rs 299 which is applicable from next cycle i.e. next day. My usage is very low – about 20-50 minutes per month calling with no internet use. I tried resolving the issue numerous times such as:

  • Called Vodafone service and asked them to resolve this issue but they directed me to their nearby store. Zero progress until now.
  • As directed, I went to Vodafone store where they said to reach out to their email – vodafonecare.mum@vodafoneidea.com. Still no progress.
  • Now I wrote several mails (about 12-14) to the given email ID but seems they are not (willing to) understand my issue and has been avoiding my real questions.
  • I tried reaching to your Twitter support then. All you do is share your phone number and wait for call. Even after multiple follow ups I haven’t received any call from your end.
  • Over email, I requested you to call and resolve the issue over call. You understand and agree with my concern there but when I ask that I want to speak to the manager,  either you disconnect the call or say you’ll call back. Zero effectiveness here too.

My first concern is – why was my billing amount increased from 99 to 299 (three times) without my consent? I understand that your 99 plan is not available now. Don’t you think customer should agree to your change in plans? Now, next day you’ll increase your base plan to 2,000, do you think people will pay?  I never agreed upon such plan anytime.

Finally, as a resolution I am ready to pay dues as per my old billing and then switch to prepaid service to settle this at once.
