TDR Rejection Mail is below
The TDR filed against PNR Number 2354209690 with reason Train Late More Than Three Hours and Passenger Not Travelled. has been repudiated by system as per the Indian Railways Refund Rules https://contents.irctc.co.in/en/Refundrule2015.pdf

Reason for Repudiation/rejection: ,TRAIN LATE BY MORE THAN 3 HRS. BUT TDR NOT FILED WITHIN ACTUAL DEPARTURE OF THE TRAINTDR Rejected based on 2015 cancellation rules which is not informed

Overall Case facts below
– Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Train was delayed by almost 12 hours. How can we with a family which includes three small kids (<4 years) and one senior citizen travel or even think of travel after reading the first SMS – that TRAIN is EXPECTED to depart by 2:50 AM. The word EXPECTED would also mean that train could have got cancelled which generally happens if trains are unexpectedly late by 10-12 hours.
Should we be celebrating Holi in the train journey and that too when we had planned and booked tickets three months in advance.

– Is it not the responsibility of IRCTC or Railways to inform about Cancellation Rules/ TDR processes when they know that the train was delayed by 10-12 hours ?
Should they not inform the customer and give them the option to Go Ahead/Cancel the ticket based on their (old archaic 2015)rules . When they send Late Departure message, they should be the ones to inform about cancellation rules/ provide alternate arrangements.

– We never knew anything about TDR. By God's grace we had never encountered such delays and that too in marquee train like Rajdhani on the occasion of Holi. We were told that TDR can be filed within 72 hours of journey. When the train was (EXPECTED DEPARTURE) delayed , we travelled by our own car on road (20 hrs journey). I was driving the car. We spent the day of Holi mostly on car on the road all because of failure of Railways. We spent 20 hours of Road journey because of train delay and one word in the SMS – (EXPECTED)
It was mental trauma and huge inconvenience we had to borne especially my Mother in Law (59 years) and three kids. And now I have been informed by Railways that TDR is rejected because of some 8 year policy document.

Please refund our money at least. Railways have already caused lot of mental and physical trauma with their childish communication methods.
