Hi, My name is Manish Chauhan. Currently living in noida.
This incident to place on Friday night (9th Aug). I guy (Ravindra, 9871622054) who claimed himself as police officer called my cousin (living in Jaipur) and informed him regarding me that i have a case filed against me from Zomato and his delivery boy for food snatching. My cousin immediately call me and informed me about this and provided the number of the police officer.
I called the police officer and he informed that Zomato and his delivery boy filed a case against me for food snatching. He informed that the order is from 13 July and the order was from Foodelicious. He asked him to visit Ghazipur police station, Delhi tomorrow.
I checked and found that the order which i did on 13 July was from my CARD PAYMENT and I NEVER SNATCHED ANY ORDER FROM ANYONE. and why i will snatch the order when i already paid the money online. THIS MAKE NO SENSE TO ME. Even i was not involved in any kind of argument with the delivery boy. I clearly remember that i just took my order as usual and came to my pg.
I thought it was a fraud call so to cross verify i called Ghazipur police station and they told me to relax as the payment was online and when i have done the payment so there is nothing to worry about.
I tried to call that guy again so that i can get the complain number but his number was unreachable. That make me believe that it might be a fraud call and as we all know that there are so much fraud going on so I DIDN’T VISIT TO THE POLICE STATION NEXT DAY.
NOW ON THE NEXT DAY around 2 PM i got call from that police officer again. I tried to cross questioning him so that i can verify if he is fraud or a police officer and i informed him that i contacted the Ghazipur police station as well. I asked the complain number: Efir447/90 under section 379 ipc. And he informed that after investigation they found that it was a fraud complain against you and we have now registered a case against the delivery boy for making fake complain and now i don’t need to worry and that is why he called me to informed this
NOW AFTER 1 HOUR OF THAT CALL.
I GOT A CALL FROM ZOMATO LEGAL DEPARTMENT and the guy name was Ankur (8368417050). He informed that he is really sorry for the inconvenience which i have due to that order.He informed that the delivery boy filed a case against you for snatching the Mobile and food from him and you might got a call from SHO Ghazipur police station. He informed that the delivery boy was keep changing his statement that regarding the incident and now the after the police investigation the case from delivery boy found fraud and they filed a case against him for fake complain. I asked him that now i am not sure if he is really from the Zomato legal department or he is also fraud.

Now the question is if those guys were fraud and how they got my details of order (Like restaurant name and order date and all).
And if it was not fraud then why zomato didn’t call me earlier when they gave the information to that police officer. I DIDN’T GOT ANY CALL FROM ZAMATO OR POLICE. IT WAS MY COUSIN WHO IS IN JAIPUR WHO GOT CALL FROM POLICE REGARDING ME.
I used my zomato app and number to order food and there is no connection between me and my cousin regarding phone number or zomato.
And i feel bit safe as i used card payment for food so i have proper record of it. WHAT IF THE PAYMENT WAS THROUGH CASH ON DELIVERY. then even after being innocence i might me be trouble because i don’t have any proof of payment .
THIS WAS COMPLETELY HARASSMENT AND EMBARRASSMENT. MY FAMILY GOT TENSED AND SCARED DUE TO THIS. I WAS EMBARRASS AS THEY CALLED MY COUSIN AND HIS FAMILY WAS ALSO PRESENT. I HAVE TO FACE THIS DUE TO ZOMATO AND HIS DELIVERY BOY EVEN WHEN I DID NOTHING
I WAS IN OFFICE WHEN THIS ALL HAPPENED AND IT MAKE ME TENSED AND UNSECURED ABOUT MY PERSONAL DETAILS WHICH CAN BE SHARED TO ANYONE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND INFORMING ME BY ZOMATO.
I will gonna post it on social platform and i will ask my friends and family and colleague to do not use zomato and even i uninstalled the app
I need a proper clarification and investigation on this from your side and i want your senior management team to have a look into this.
