Text of Complaint by John B:

I booked my wife a room for four days in Jennings, LA through Hotels.com.  Three days before the stay I verified the reservation via phone.  After driving 12 hours to get there, the manager of the OYO property refused to honor the reservation rudely stating they were full and proceeded to lock the lobby doors on her.  I had to scramble to secure other lodging for her that night.  When I called OYO they gave me apologies and nothing else.  Then the next day I see where OY had charged my card the entire amount as if she had stayed there for four days.  I called and they sited their cancellation policy.  When I complained that WE did not cancel, THEY did, they said we would get a refund within 48 hours.  After three days they said the refund would take another 48 hours.  After three more days they said it would be another 5 to 7 business days.  After the 8th business day they asked me to be patient and it would be up to 14 business days.  Well after that 14 business days they said I would have to give them my banking information in order to refund the money, or paypal, or venmo.  What kind of legitimate business cannot reverse the charges on the card used as the method of payment?  I gave them a Venmo to pay me and yet another 14 business days went by without a refund.  All in all I spent countless hours calling dozens of times and wound up having to go to my bank to dispute the charge as fraud.  After emailing their “Escalation Team” and threatening legal action the refund appeared on my original card used TWO MONTHS after the initial denial of service.  Weeks later they still call me and text me wanting bank account information to give a refund that was already given.  It’s hard to tell if they are scammers or just that inept.
