Text of Complaint by Yogesh:

I have booked a flight ticket for travel from Bangalore to Chennai for 2nd April 2020 due to pandemic situation arising and complete lockdown the flights for 2nd April were cancelled by the airline and because of government regulations.

I am eligible to get complete refund of the amount paid at the time of booking for travel cancelled by the airline and govt.

Then why first airlines had given credit note saying cash refund can not be given.going against there own cancellation rules and framing own new rules. I.e in general times if an airlines cancel the flight due to any reason the customer gets refund of the amount paid in cash or can take an alternative flight or can take credit note.so all the options were open for the consumer .but now during the pandemic times airlines framed new rules all at sudden which was not there at the time of booking.so airlines started there own will and fancy and decided not to refund money in cash and provide credit note which can be used in 1 year.

On checking with the airlines if we use credit note then convience fee is not charged again. Means I got the full amount as refund. But now after 4 months indigo as processed for refund without my knowlege and request and Paytm as refunded only partial amount deduting the convenience fees and making profit of this transaction and again charging convenience fees for new booking.

Paytm is making crores of rupees profit at the time where consumer is having no money and needs money in pandemic situation.

When airlines have processed complete refund of the ticket value then how can Paytm make profit by not refunding the complete amount.

Also Any promotion/offer/ cash back is part of Paytm promotion to lure customer to do booking from there site whether profitable to company or not. Paytm is deducting those promotional expenses also from the ticket refund which is unfair and unjustifiable.  Request the consumer court to strictly look into such tactics of company making profit of convenience fees for which consumer is not liable to pay. With crores of consumer booking tickets and paying convience fee agents/middle men should not take advantage of this pandemic situation and make profit of it.deducting the amount from the airline ticket price.
