Text of Complaint by Kartik Aggarwal:

I have been through 2 incidents now.

1) Went to Himachal on the 24th May 2019, stayed in Chail for a day and confirmed a booking of a hotel in Kufri for the 25th May. Upon reaching at the hotel for the check-in, I was told that the hotel (Oyo 14776, The Tikker) was not working with Oyo anymore and hence our rooms were never booked.

Why were we not informed by the hotel or Oyo, and had to find it out after driving for some 2 hours. It was the weekend so all the hotels were booked and whatever were available, were showing skyrocketed prices. We had to cut our trip short and drive back to Chandigarh.

Incident 2) I had to go to Chandigarh so booked the Oyo for 11th to 12th June 2019. This time, being extra cautious I decided to confirm with the hotel beforehand.

2.a Booked: Oyo 19716 Hotel Shanay.

Response of the hotel manager: Sir, Our hotel is shut down and we are not working with oyo anymore!

Response by Oyo: Sorry for the inconvenience. We’ll book another room and you don’t have to pay anything above.

2.b Booked by Oyo: Oyo 14225 Bahl Regency

Especially asked the customer care guy to confirm with the hotel manager. He didn’t.

Called up the hotel manager and was told that the booking hasn’t been confirmed by the hotel because the booking amount is less than what they are charging for the day.

I was supposed to reach Chandigarh by 9 Pm, and imagine having your family by your side and you are told that late in night that you’ve been made.

What Oyo does to these hotels? Nothing!

What happens to customers if they cancel the booking? They are charged 100% of their booking amounts.

This is outrageous and nothing less of a mental torture and I am seriously planning to take this up at an actual court.

You can’t keep the customers happy. You can’t keep the hotels happy. Apparently only Ritesh Agarwal is the one smiling with the money from our memberships and cancellation charges.
