I, Ajith Kumar, am raising a formal complaint against RedBus (operator: FlixBus) for deficiency in service and failure to provide a refund following a bus breakdown during my journey from Chennai to Visakhapatnam. Despite registering a complaint, no action has been taken to resolve the issue or process the refund.

• Date of Journey: 26th April 2026
• Bus Operator: Flix Bus Service
• Bus License plate: TN10CA2199
• Boarding Point: Infront of election commission office,Arumbakkam.
• Amount Paid: INR 2124/-

Facts of the Case
1. Bus Breakdown at Ongole
At approximately 12:30 AM, the bus halted at Ongole due to mechanical issues. Upon inquiry, the driver informed passengers that the engine had a complaint and assured that it would be resolved within half an hour.
2. No Alternative Arrangement Provided
Around 3:30 AM, the driver confirmed that the bus had suffered a complete breakdown and could not proceed further. He advised passengers to seek alternative transport and assured that the refund would be processed within 12 hours. Consequently, I was compelled to arrange my own travel, boarding another bus (Shyamoli Paribahan Travels) from the bypass to Rajahmundry, and thereafter continuing to Visakhapatnam.
3. Lack of Resolution and Refund
Despite registering a formal complaint with RedBus regarding the incident, no resolution has been provided and the promised refund has not been processed to date.
4. Failure to Honor Assurance Program
The ticket was booked under the RedBus Assurance Program, which explicitly guarantees compensation in cases of service deficiencies. However, RedBus has failed to honor this commitment by neither providing compensation nor refund, thereby violating the terms of the program and constituting deficiency in service.

Legal Grounds
The actions of RedBus constitute a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, specifically under the following provisions:
1. Section 2(1)(r) – Deficiency in Service
The bus operator failed to provide the promised service as per the agreed terms, leaving passengers stranded without alternative arrangements and failing to process the assured refund.
2.Section 2(1)(o) – Unfair Trade Practices
RedBus engaged in unfair trade practices by not providing a refund for the cancelled journey and by failing to deliver proper resolution despite a formal complaint being raised. This amounts to misrepresentation and breach of consumer trust.

Relief Sought
In light of the facts and legal grounds stated above, I respectfully request the Hon’ble Forum to:
1. Direct RedBus to refund the full booking amount of ₹2,124 along with ₹1,500 incurred for alternative conveyance to reach Visakhapatnam.
2. Award suitable compensation for the mental agony, and inconvenience suffered due to the deficiency in service and failure to honor the Assurance Program.
3.Order RedBus to reimburse the litigation costs incurred in pursuing this complaint before the Hon’ble Forum.
