Text of Complaint by Prabhu:

I was a Airtel DTH user with account no. 3017676754. I had subscribed to Airtel Infinity Pack in November 2018 for 1 year.

However, due to the recent TRAI regulations Airtel started sending sms on compulsory change of plan as per the new TRAI approved rates.

Airtel’s sms stated that if i don’t change my pack, they will change it to the nearest available monthly pack. Fearing they may select channels that I’m not watching, I changed my Infinity annual pack.

However, after changing i came across the FAQs at TRAI’s website. The S.No. 11 of the FAQ clearly states that long term pack holders can continue with their pack as long as term doesn’t expire. Only when the subscriber wants to change his/her pack, he can change it and the new rates will apply to him.

But Airtel clearly violated the TRAI guidelines by sending blackmailing sms and forcing subscriber to change the packs.

I hope appropriate action is taken against the fraudulent activity of Airtel.
