Recently I came across a very popular ongoing pg scam in Pune(viman nagar). I was looking for a good PG in that particular area. I came across a pg named Royal Luxury PG and I called the owner for it’s details. The owner acted like a very genuine person and he shared me pictures of all the available rooms. Those rooms were so nice that anyone is going to believe it to be true. I wanted to personally verify the property so I asked for when it will be possible for me to visit. At first he said you can visit anytime but after an hour he again called me and said you can visit on this this date as currently some family emergency came up. So I went to see the property on the agreed date. On reaching the location which was giving on the Google I basically reached a dead end area. I called the owner and asked him to share his location on WhatsApp. He said for that I have to pay 2000 as he will create a visiting pass for me. I thought maybe it’s a some kind of protocol they follow. I paid that amount and the payment was done to someone named Karishma. After few minutes he again called me and said the transaction is not happening at this moment and the amount is now stucked so I have make a payment of 8001 to complete the transaction and the whole amount is going to be refunded easily. At this point I was irritated and I told him I don’t want to visit his property anymore just return my initially paid amount. After which he started telling me stories on how we should trust people and what not but i was determined I will not pay any such amount now. So at this point I was a victim of a scam. So I did some research and came to know there are hundreds and thousands of such cases registered in viman nagar police station since so many years and all these scams happens from the same phone number and the same person does it. All these cases are unattended or ignored by the police department. So many people have lost hefty amount of money in such scam but the police department is unaffected by them.
After two days I got a refund from my bank for the same amount for the previously done transaction as while making the payment I was facing some issues with my bank server. Which at the end helped me from losing my money.
I just want to warn everyone who is looking for a pg in pune/Mumbai or any other place do not pay any such amount because at the end you are going to loose all your money and the police is not gonna help you out.
One more thing I want to mention which I left mentioning before. This particular royal luxury Pg is having it’s own website and I called the owner from the number given on website and he said for further assistance his team will reach out to me. After all those drama I called the owner he said you have been a part of a scam and there are so many cases related to him registered in viman nagar police station.
