Cyber Crime Recovers Money Looted By Scamster through RUSK DESK App

According to a press release issued by the Maharashtra Police one Mr. Ajay Marchala living in Kashimira near Mumbai had booked a train ticket online through IRCTC. However, the ticket was not booked & Rs.1627/- was deducted from his bank account. When he looked on the internet for the IRCTC customer care number, he got the number of a scamster 9334287978. He called the number & requested a refund. The scamster called him from another number +916294662560 and asked him to download the RUSK DESK App. When Marchala did so, the scamster was able to access the credit card and withdrew Rs.93000. Marchala registered a complaint with the Cyber ​​Crime Cell. They directed the Bank to free the payment and the money was returned to Marchala’s account.

The Police has issued a press release cautioning people to not call helpline numbers found on the internet as these are operated by scamsters. Also, they should never download software like AnyDesk, RUSK Desk etc as they allow the scamsters to gain control over the computer and misuse the information.

The Police has also advised victims to lodge a complaint on www.cybercrime.gov.in pr by telephone 1930. They can also send an email to cybercrime.mb-vv@mahapolice.gov.in
