I too have fallen victim to the VAS valu addeed services that Vodafone has been activating in my phone without getting our confirmation.
i have been charged 600 sr each for the last two months.
i had registered complaint to Vodafone, the called and kept telling that I have activated probably unknowingly.
now I am not an uneducated or a senior citizen who could not cope with technology. I have had my share of knowledge of technology and surely an IIR. Pass out am not that much of a fool to accept their silly concept of me activating these services without my knowledge.
i did my home work and found how the (Vodafone ) gets away with this scam.
number 1. They activate VAS services without our consent. And then send a message saying “ we have activated so and so service , if u don’t want them please send stop to a specified number via sms… “ now some in a right sense would ask us “ if we want a service THEN please send sms to a specified number instead they try the cheap trick of forcing us to send an sms IF WE WISH TO DISCONTINUE.” This means they suck out money from uneducated and senior citizens a good deal of money who may not know to send a “stop” to a specified number they say Thus making cheap money from this minority group of people and from people like me if we miss to see their messag”
number 2. The above scam was turning futile as days passed by hence they started finding newer scam which brings me to this point number 2. When we download Vodafone app , the app request access to camera, contacts and SMS. ( please note the terms SMS).
so to justify their scam they are now sending OTP to us AGAIN WITHOUT OUR CONSENT, this OPT gets pasted directly into their app. Thus giving them a proof that we had accepted their OTP for the VAS service. Note. Did u know in today’s smart phone when u do a bank transaction an OTPgets sent to you via sms. This top directly gets lasted in your bill desk page as a Hasel free method of avoiding going back to sms and remembering that Otp to paste in billdesk.
THIS VERY FEATURE IS BEING USED ILLEGALLY BY VODAFONE BY SENDING OTP TO US THAT GETS LASTED AUTOMATICALLY IN THEIR APP THUS PROVING THAT WE HAVE ACCEPTED THE OTP THEREFORE THE VAS SERVICE. ALL THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT US KNOWING AS WE HAVE GIVEN THEIR APP ACESS TOOUR SMS.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS AS I SEE OTHERS TOO FACING THIS EMBARRISING ATTITUDE PUT UP BY VODAFONE TO ITS POSTPAID CUSTOMERS.
