Text of Complaint by KUNAL RESHAMWALA:

Dear Madam/Sir,

Greetings of the day!

During these truly unprecedented times, I sincerely hope that all is well and safe with you and around you. The clouds of uncertainty demand a great deal of support, faith, reassurance, positivity and compassion for each other including government officials including electricity distribution companies.

While there cannot be any other side to this crisis, however, amid this gloom, it is heartening to experience the stimulus package announced by the Government of India to fight against COVID-19 disaster. Please note that public savings have completely finished & survival has become a very big challenge. We appreciate the announcement made by Hon’ble FM/PM for ease and reliefs considering the disaster due to this pandemic.

We are displeased and surprised to get to know that our bill amount for July 2020 is Rs 14700 which is unusually high and re-estimation is also not correct.

Brief Facts/Background

Data for Meter Number M088149. Simple comparison is as follows :

Total 2823         19,430   3498         30,060

Units consumed higher by 675 24%

Amount higher by          10,630 55%
  1. From the history you will realise that I have been making payments always in a timely manner.
  2. Amount is higher by Rs 10630 which is 55% more than the normal.
  3. There is no interest provided on security deposit which was given during this period last year.
  4. Why are there no photographs of meter reading provided as done by MSEDCL? This should be forming part of the invoice and properly disclosed on the face of the invoice.
  5. As per my calculation there is inaccurate billing wherein credit for last payment of Rs 2680 made on 1 July 2020 not considered.
  6. There are excess consumed units reflected to the tune of 593 units resulting in adoption of inappropriate tariff slabs.
  7. As mentioned by you that there was easing of lockdown on 15 June 2020 and your persons had come for the reading. But no hardcopy of the bill is received, inspite this being essential service. I have not opted for getting invoice electronic mode.
  8. The telephone number provided 022-24127599 & 022-24116334 is always faulty and we are getting no response. You may kindly check this yourself.
  9. You should be aware this has caused a major shock to everyone since 90% Citizens lost its daily earnings and there were major paycuts across. Middleclass was the worst hit which never got any relief from Govt. Citizens have to face this dual trouble whereby they not only have to save themselves from getting infected but also equally importantly survive this difficult period when there is NIL Income.

Prayer

  1. New tariffs should not be adopted currently in view of the economic situation stated above.
  2. Will not be able to pay the bill unless proper clarification provided and rectification are made at the earliest. Also, as per Electricity Consumers’ Rights Statement, I would like to demand an explanation from you.
  3. Kindly waive our past 4 months Electricity Bills for the Month of March April May June. Kindly also waive 50% of Electricity Bills from July onwards upto December 2020 & Charge at half Rate. Above waivers will help us in Long way to meet our day to day expenses & survive this crises of NIL earnings.
  4. We wish to inform you that such relaxation was made by the MP Govt which reduced electricity bills by a long way. Delhi Govt already waived electricity bills upto 200 units. Kerela Govt too announced electricity subsidy. If Delhi, Kerela & MP Govt can come forward to help Citizens then why not Maharashtra Govt too shows generous way & does JUSTICE.

I would deeply appreciate, if this email reaches you and senior authorities for getting resolution. Timely correction will enable me have the payment done in a timely manner and also support the government to play a more effective role towards nation building in times of serious crisis as today.
