Text of Complaint by MADDURI ASRITHA:

I am the complainant in this matter and I state that I am a lifelong vegetarian. I have never consumed or even touched non-vegetarian food in my entire life. My dietary practices are deeply connected to my personal beliefs, values, and way of life, and any violation of the same causes serious emotional and mental distress.On 19th December, I placed an order through the Bistro application for a potato (vegetarian) sandwich ,which is a food service operated within the Blinkit platform. The item was clearly listed as vegetarian, and I placed the order with the full expectation that only vegetarian food would be prepared and delivered.However, due to negligence, lack of proper food segregation, and failure in order verification within Blinkit’s food service operations, I was instead delivered a chicken sandwich, which is a non-vegetarian food item. I unknowingly consumed a portion of the sandwich before realizing the error. This incident caused me severe emotional shock, mental agony, and distress. For a lifelong vegetarian, being made to consume non-vegetarian food without consent is not a minor or excusable mistake. Food choices are not merely preferences but are closely linked to personal beliefs, trust, and identity. Although an apology was later offered, the harm caused by this negligence cannot be undone by an apology alone. The incident amounts to a clear deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and reflects failure in food handling standards, labeling, and quality-control responsibilities owed to consumers.This complaint is filed to seek accountability and corrective action so that such incidents do not occur with any consumer in the future. Strict measures are required to ensure proper food segregation, verification, and consumer safety in Blinkit’s food service operations.I respectfully request the Hon’ble Consumer Forum to take appropriate action against the opposite party and grant suitable relief for the mental agony and emotional distress caused due to this incident.
