Text of Complaint by Mani:

I have a postpaid connection with VI for past 16 years . For past 4-6 months, we are facing severe network issues in our area. Our area is within the city limits of Chennai and bang on the main road. Due to this I was not able to make/answer the calls, receive messages, mainly OTPs and such issues. I had complained several times to the service provider, during this period and the technician used to visit and check the network in the area and he would acknowledge the same stating that the network is poor. However till now there is no resolution. So, I had decided to port my number to another provider. But I have been facing issue with UPC generation also. I am getting reply as “UPC cannot be generated as there is an active request for the change of ownership for this number.”

I have raised this issue to the network provider almost 15 days back, on 11th/2th of October. Till now it’s not resolved.I am trying through all their channels like Vi chat, call centre, mails. Everytime I get a reply that they are escalating the issue and that it will be resolved within 24/48/72 hours. First I was given a TAT of 24 hours, after that 72 hours and then 48 hours, again 24 hours and again 72 hours(given on 20-10-2023). In this period, I had even called the appellate authority on 17-10-2023. I was told that the UPC related issue would be resolved within 18-10-2023 and the network issue within 20-10-2023. But neither are resolved so far. I doubt if VI network is using it as a strategy to retain the customers, by not allowing us to generate UPC.
