Text of Complaint by Amol Javdekar:

I am writing this complaint e mail after multiple unsuccessful attempts to lodge a complaint in Jio’s customer care center and refusal by them to provide me a docket number for my complaint.On 21st of October 2019 I purchased a Rs. 399 recharge plan from my  mobile. Nowhere on the screen was a warning mentioned that beginning from 10 Oct 2019 Jio has started charging Jio – Non jio calls Rs. 6 per minute. Somewhere in between I received a message informing the above and asking me to purchase Rs. 10 additional plan for jio to non jio calls. While I made such calls the decrease in balance was as expected and proportionate to the amount of talk time.My 399 plan had a 3 months validity and was going to expire sometime in January 2020. Suddenly on 1 st November 2019 I was unable to make any outgoing calls and realized after reading the relevant sms that talk time of my 399 plan was completely over… just 9 days after recharging.  Since I had some important calls to make I purchased RS. 444 plan and received a message that apart from no additional charges for Jio – Jio and 1.5 GB per day data and unlimited sms etc I would get 1000 minutes of Jio – Non jio ( purposefully the word free is not included in the message from Jio ) and that charging of Jio – Non Jio calls after these 1000 minutes were exhausted would be done at the rate of 6 paise per minute. Surprisingly every call I made was considered Jio – Non jio after that and reduction in balance of these 1000 minutes talk time was much more than actual talk time. Thus if i talked for any amount less than 1 minute haphazardly 3 – 15 minutes would be cut from my balance.I tried to contact their customer care number to lodge a complaint. Using their customer care is very complicated and inefficient and there is no clarity in menu as to which number is to be pressed to speak to customer care executives. After multiple attempts and wasting lot of time and energy I finally was able to speak to customer care executive. In spite of explaining my problem in very clear words the customer care executive acted as though he / she did not understand what I wanted to say and after a long time of explaining and after requesting them to connect me to higher authorities the call got disconnected. This happened twice. The third time I called their service I demanded to know mobile number of nodal officer. I was given a wrong number and although the authority  there understood my complaint did nothing to help me. According to rule if I  have to escalate the matter to TRAI , i need to follow a procedure the first step of which is lodging complaint with Jio. But as I have explained in great details here Jio is shrewdly and cunningly making it very very difficult to lodge a complaint. Till date I have not been given opportunity to lodge a complaint and hence no docket number is available with me. Jio is cheating crores of consumers like me and looting them of their hard earned money.I request you to kindly look into the matter and give the severest possible punishment to Jio for this cheating .Awaiting feedback by email / a phone call from your side ASAP.Regards
