I lost my phone, and so had to buy a duplicate sim. I had gone for lunch in Bandra W, Mumbai on 2nd April and so decided to buy the sim there from a nearby store. I was told the sim will be active in 2hrs, but it didn’t. I waited the whole day. Next day on April 3rd I went to another Airtel store in Santacruz E, as the same is near my place. The guy there said he is not adequately equipped to handle such scenario ( though he didn’t tell me the cause that was causing issue, and the store was quite big), and so I should go to the store in West. I went there, the staff were very busy gossiping, complaining about how they hated working there. After half of goofing around, the said that since I had taken the sim from Bandra W the issue can be resolved there only (though the status of my application was a success), on asking what was it that they can help me with that you can’t they just kept repeating I should visit the other store. Also they cannot contact the other store to check and help with the Issue. It was 7:45pm till then and there was no point going to any other store as the stores close by 7pm.
Meanwhile I tried calling 198, after 10-15 min of continuously dialing one number after other I finally got a chance to talk to the customer, who said has taken my complaint but can’t provide a timeline when the issue could be resolved.
So now I’m stuck as all my accounts are linked with only that number. I was stupid enough to be using only one sim and so had to borrow sim from a friend.
