Text of Complaint by Christopher John Dargan:

My buyers account was suspended. I rang up the help desk who asked me such questions as: my full name, address, email address, previous address, previous email address. They sent off this information to the billing department. All I got was an automated response saying the information provided was insufficient. That I hadn’t proven that the credit card was mine and I should supply the required documents.

Once again I rang up the help desk and asked what this required document was. When I was informed I told the person I was speaking too that my bank would not supply such information via an email. I offered to have the bank print out the information and send it by regular post but was told this would be insufficient. I then offered to go down to Amazon’s office with my credit card, my photo ID and the bank statement but was told that this would also be insufficient. However she put all this down in a report and sent it to the billing department. All I got was another automated response.

Giving the matter one last try I sent the billing department a document that contained the billing code of an item I had recently purchased through Amazon. I reminded them they could check their records to see I had paid my bill and the item had been successfully delivered. In response I got the same automated response.

By this time I realised that your company was never going to lift the suspension. So I contacted the help line once again and told them that I wanted my account permanently deleted and that any further correspondence from Amazon would be viewed as harassment and the matter would be turned over to the police.

Despite the fact that the billing department couldn’t be sure if the account was mine they deleted it within a few minutes and sent me an email confirming it. I full realise that the likelihood of Amazon doing anything about this complain is vanishingly small. However if the company treats all its customers as they have treated me Amazon will go broke and deservedly so.

I feel I have been discrimated against and treated very poorly and for no good reason what so ever.
