Text of Complaint by Dr A.C.David:

Dear Sir,
I am the complainant herein and subscriber of Airtel mobile number 9895464502. I obtained the connection while in service at Vadakara during 2001 for Rs999/- as lifetime connection.
Until 2008 there were no serious troubles in enjoying the services provided by Airtel. During March of 2008 I received call and text messages from Airtel directing me to make recharge failing which the services will be discontinued. I replied to them that this was not a condition laid down while taking this connection, and being a doctor I had expressed interest to take this connection only because I had a large number of incoming calls. And I had made only one or two recharges of Rs10/- each for making outgoing calls during the period between 2001 and 2008. The incoming calls to my connection were barred on 31-03-2008 and I finally made a email to Airtel on 31-03-2008 evening to revert back to the service status as provided hitherto.
The service was however restored only after two days on 02-04-2008, and I received two communications one from the company and one from the nodal officer Kerala endorsing my lifetime connection. I did not go for any litigation because it was the first time and the company had acknowledged its mistake. Following this I had made only few recharges for outgoing calls during the past ten years, and the services were just optimal.
During a fortnight prior to 18-08-18 I received few messages directing me to recharge my account failing which the outgoing services will be discontinued, which I ignored because it was not my interest. During a week prior to 18-08-18 I again received few messages directing me to recharge my account failing which the incoming services also will be discontinued. In response to those messages I sent an email to the company as well as the nodal officer Kerala on 17-12-2018 itself prior to the disconnection of incoming services. However the company or the Nodal officer has not responded so far. Above all that the company is playing a recorded message to all my callers that “incoming calls to this number are stopped due to not recharging the account”.
The action of Airtel is deliberate and intended to harass the complainant. It is the vexatious intent of the opposite party rather than the money required to recharge the account which has forced me into this complaint. Their action has already taken a heavy toll on my customers who are the real sufferers.
Under the circumstances I pray that the services to the number may be immediately restored. Since I have had to face heavy losses of life and money, a fine / compensation of at least Rs50,000/-, which might not be sufficient to compensate for life and pain, may be imposed on Airtel, so that it would be exemplary even to other service providers.
