I got a new connection for AIRTEL DTH on 31-DEC-2021 by Rs. 1600 for a brand new HD STB.
Current situation, 2 days from now this box stopped working and my TV showed NO SIGNAL on it, I raised a complaint with Airtel and a technician comes in and informs me that the STB has stopped working and it needs to be replaced, I asked him how can I upgrade this to Airtel XSTREAM, he asks me to pay him Rs. 1500 to upgrade.
Now let me tell you that the MRP of a Airtel XStream box is Rs. 2000, if I am a new customer I will have to pay Rs. 2000 to get Airtel XStream and Airtel will give me Rs. 500 as cashback, so they charged me for one box which is within warranty Rs. 1600 and it stopped working, now I pay Rs. 1500 more to get upgraded to better box, i used the current box for 6months I am ready to pay half for the faulty box to Airtel as I used it for 6months. Airtel is denying to upgrade my STB and is asking for more money and is ready to replace my current STB with similar STB that is now faulty, why should I get same product which is not operational anymore.
I asked the technician why this box stopped working, the reply I got was that this is a machine it may go faulty on the first day as well, I asked the technician that are you saying that Airtel doesn’t do any testing on their products they provide to consumers, he had no reply to this.
So I want to sue Airtel for providing me with a faulty not tested product and forcing me to get the similar faulty product.
Resolution I need is, Airtel to compensate me for this inappropriate behavior by upgrading my current stb to xstream
