Text of Complaint by Dhruv Maithil:

12th June 2023:
I made a booking through Urban Company app of deep cleaning service for my Panasonic split AC. The professional who was appointed to me by the name Jitender Gupta first refused to clean the AC suggesting that the AC’s outdoor unit was not working, the indoor unit was working totally fine. Then upon checking the unit the professional told me the outdoor unit’s pcb and motor both are damaged, burned from inside and need to be repaired. Afterwards he closed the booking at visiting charge without informing and proceeds to collect 1.Outdoor Unit’s PCB 2.Fan Motor and 3.Indoor Unit’s PCB as well, making total charge of around Rs.6200, Rs.4000 for outdoor unit’s PCB and Rs.2200 for Fan Motor, to which I agreed.

13th June 2023:
The professional came at around 5 pm the next day, installed all the parts in the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. upon connecting the AC with power, it wont turn on. The professional was doing all sorts of connections with the indoor unit but the AC was dead. He then told me the Indoor Unit’s PCB is also damaged. This time I wouldn’t buy it. Upon further Speculation, I found out the professional had closed the request on visiting charge without consulting me and had started operating on personal grounds without involving Urban Company. The Outdoor Unit’s PCB that he said was burnt from inside and was charging Rs.4000 for, he only replaced a capacitor worth Rs.400 according to Urban Company’s Unit Price Rate Card, and was most probably faking about motor being damaged. He even managed to damage the Indoor Unit’s PCB, which was working totally fine before he removed it. I turned the Professional away immediately. The AC which was working fine and for which I only needed cleaning service for is completely dead and wont turn on.

16th June 2023
Upon contacting Urban Company and bringing the whole matter into light, they proceed to a conference call with the professional. The man clearly denied he even removed any parts or offered any such service out of Urban Company’s booking, but fortunately I had phone recordings and society entry and exit records to present. Following which Urban Company escalated the issue and offered a refund of Rs.1500 or free fixing for indoor unit PCB from them. My issue still stands with the their offer and the professional, as I have no clue whether my outdoor unit is also working or not, as I cannot trust the professional in any way.

The professional tried to charge me for outdoor unit PCB, Fan motor and Indoor unit PCB, with the AC working fine, on an AC cleaning service booking from Urban Company.
