Text of Complaint by Neelam Chauhan:

I am a registered tutor on a platform. I received a phone call from an unknown number where the person on the other end said that he was an army officer and wanted to take English speaking classes for his three sisters. He enquired about the total fee and said that his manager will call me to make the payment. After an hour or so, I received the call from a person, who said, he was his manager and told me that Army payments had a different protocol, so first he ll send 1 rupee and once i confirm the payment, he ll send the reamaining 15000 rupees. He shared a link with me, which clearly said that rupees 1 will be DEBITED from my account and NOT CREDITED, i told this thing to the person but he said, that this is the protocol for army payment. Anyhow Rs. 1 was debited from my account and the person sent me 2 rupees in my HDFC account. Now, the person said sent me link for 15000 rupees but I got suspicious and did not click on the link and i made the right choice. I am sharing this information so that it might be useful for someone and may save someone’s hard earned money.
Please do not trust such fraudsters and pay attention on the red flags, which I noticed and may help you too.
1. The person highlighted his status in the WhatsApp message saying we own our own restaurants in Australia. No normal client gives this unnecessary information, it was purely given to show how rich i am. This is an indication of a dishonest person.
2. When i said, that before i say yes to teach his sisters, let them attend a demo class, the person said, horridly that no need of demo class, we ll directly go ahead with the payment. No genuine client generally pays for the class without taking the demo because everyone knows the value of money. This was the second red flag, being ready to pay without taking a demo class.
3. The manager was so particular about, check your balance and see you receive 1 rupee, was super respectful taking like saying ‘sister’ and all, this is bullshit. No army person talks like that. His words were an indicator that he wanted money at the fastest.
4. The payment request came from a personal axis bank account whereas the rupee 1 came from a registered company.
5. Even when i told the person that i don’t trust this process, something is fishy about it, the person kept on pressing on just clicking the link.

Such people are a burden on the society and not just loot innocent people’s money, they are also bringing a bad name to the honest and proud defense personals who serve our nation. Such fraudsters should be punished with the most severe punishments
