Text of Complaint by Samuel Johnson:

I placed an order on the WOW! Eats app for the Wednesday special on 3rd July, 2024 for INR 423.65.
The order status changed to “Placed”, but had the sub-line of “pending payment”.

Wasn’t sure what was going on and thought it was a banking issue (which would usually be refunded quickly) and retried the payment. But same issue – both payments were deducted from my bank balance I used UPI), but the order was not confirmed.

The company does not have an email support team and can only has a phone number (+91 9836198361). Tried calling them about 20 times so far, but every time the answering machine keeps saying “All our agents are busy. Please call again later” and disconnects the call.

In 2 days, one of the transactions was refunded, but the other one was not.
I have raised a complaint on PayTM and they say its been escalated to NPCI, but no update on that yet.
I called my bank to see if they could do something, but since this payment was made through UPI, they can’t do anything, apparently.

I’m lost on how defective this entire process is – that a company can have a faulty customer support number and not be penalized for it. Just take our money and have no way to contact them about them and hold them responsible.
