Text of Complaint by sandeep:

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Reliance Nippon Life, she told me that I have a policy from Reliance Nippon and had a huge surrender value of 1,86,640/- and gave me a number of relationship manager called Rajiv Jain mobile No. 9891105942 to contact. He in turn demanded my ID papers for doing KYC. He did have my address. He said he has updated. I asked for a copy of policy and he said this will be available from web site. He promised to send a link and he did by directing me to the URL https://customer.reliancenipponlife.com/pdcSelflink/. After entering purportedly valid details, the transaction led to another link for payment.

There was no policy, no details of policy but a demand for payment of outstanding insurance premium. I was to pay 20,9000/- and in April I will get over 6 lakhs as maturity bonus. It was too good to be true and I told him so. But the site looked fishy or as it is called PHISHY. It had all the links to home page disabled. It had no option to pay by UPI which has elaborate KYC but by credit/debit card.

Any how, it was a wake up call. I recalled the policy I had with relince was not taken in 2016 as told but much earlier. I had encashed it long back.

Rajiv Jain kept calling but sent no copy of policy as demanded by me. I told him to send either by email or snail mail and no question of payment arise without knowing what the policy was.

There were a few of his missed call but he did not send policy.

It was obvious by now that it was a scam to make me pay on false pretext but what was most glaring that the web page was so real. It looked like a genuine site.

I dropped a mail to the Branch Manager to verify credentials of Rajiv Jain but have not received any reply form Reliance Nippon, so far.
