Text of Complaint by Praveen Pandey:

I have been constantly receiving numerous calls every day, averaging at least 20 calls, from unidentified individuals claiming to be associated with CRED. They assert that they are calling “on behalf of CRED” to inquire about the pending EMI payment for the month of May 2023. Initially, I informed them that the non-payment was due to a technical error in the CRED app’s payment system. I also explained that alternative methods were not feasible due to high charges incurred from multiple ECS transactions initiated by CRED, despite informing them of the payment date. Consequently, my only viable option was to make a direct account-to-account transaction, which I had requested from the individuals calling on behalf of CRED. However, they failed to address this matter, and over time, the calls became more aggressive and frequent.

Frustrated by the lack of resolution, I questioned why my previously raised issue through emails, chat support on the app, and direct communication with the callers was not being resolved. To my dismay, every caller continued to ask me, “Why are you not making payment?” and “What is the problem?” Even after explaining the situation, a different person would call and ask for an explanation again. Eventually, one person threatened to make home visits, claiming to possess my personal information, including my phone model and IP address. Disturbed by this, I started asking the callers about the company they were representing. However, they stated that they were not allowed to disclose that information as per their company rules. To ensure evidence of their statements, I began recording these conversations.

As the harassment escalated, I discovered that last month they even contacted my in-laws, whose contact details I had not provided as references. This led me to suspect that my data had been shared with third parties for collection purposes, despite CRED’s assurance that my personal information, limited to my phone number and email ID, would not be distributed. Furthermore, I received confirmation from a CRED support employee, who called me upon my inquiry, that no authorized calls were made by CRED for collection purposes.

It is evident that CRED intentionally shared my personal information with other entities for various purposes, leading to multiple days of harassment, despite my attempts to communicate directly with the company through chats and emails.
