Text of Complaint by Sunishka Poojary:

I placed my order (order id:4159896622) on 29th June 2022 (yesterday), from a store i usually order from, and moments later, I receive a notification saying that my order has been cancelled because I was unable to answer the calls. The delivery guy cancelled the order, on the grounds of unanswered calls even though he had the complete address where he/she could have delivered the food at. I wasn’t given the refund either. I was given two number to contact to, by the store I had ordered from and both of them were invalid. I also chatted with someone on the app and it says that the money was deducted to compensate their partnres.
So now, the customer is responsible for compensation amount, for the order that they didn’t even cancel from their side.
I did receive an email (the screenshot attached) from their team, that stated that I was tried to reach to via multiple calls and when I unable to answer them, my order was cancelled by their delivery partner and that they won’t be initiating a refund since they have to compensate for their delivery partner.
On asking if I would have faced the problem if I had opted for COD, I was sent the exact same email as before. They were completely unanswerable.
If the delivery partner was at my location, I would have definitely been notified via a gate app system that my residence bares. And I wasn’t. And frankly speaking, I agree on being unable to answer the calls, but I have never had to face calls whenever I’ve placed order via any online food ordering and delivery platforms until and unless I were to be informed regarding a delayed delivery. If everything is suppose to be done via phone calls, why ask for address in the first place.
If I have input my address, I should be delivered to, irrespective of unanswered calls, which i wasn’t.
How would you have compensated if my order was a COD type? Would that have been done at my doorstep that the delivery guy couldn’t make it to?
Very cheap tactics to side someone’s money on baseless grounds.
Zomato is fraud. I was robbed.
