Text of Complaint by Varun Kumar:

I shortlisted a PG property in Andheri West through No Broker.Com. The owner name was Mithun, email Id: mithun4u@gmail.com, Contact No: +919057963496. After speaking to him he asked to transfer 2000 rupees as refundable deposit to make visiting card to check the property personally. He shared his Gpay number 8609549166 and i did the transfer. After doing the transfer he confirmed that he has received the payment and his manager will call me for further visiting card process. After an hour i received a call from his office manager Aditya, Contact no. 9382808435, for my personal details and he asked me to transfer Rs. 6090 again for visiting card and said that this amount will be credited back to my account in a minute. I told him that owner has not conveyed this to me and i called back the owner again to check on this. Owner also stated that yes you need to do the payment and it will be credited back to your account immediately. I refused and asked to refund my 2000 deposit. He said he will talk to his manager and get back to me. After that he didn’t call, i called him for follow up but he disconnected my call. Then i received a call from him stating that you will get your refund in some time. After that i became doubtful and called NoBroker.com customer team and updated them regarding the incident and then they registered my complain (Complain no. 11583452). They very casually said that we never ask their customer to pay any upfront money to anyone prior visiting the property. They even said that they don’t verify property personally or even visit the property before putting in their website. They took down the owners detail and registered my complain and suggested me to talk to owner once again and request him to refund. If he is not refunding my money they asked me to file a police complain against them.
Than I did check online for such fraud in Mumbai and I saw there are few similar complains registered on different platform where such PG Owner have duped money from several other people like me.

    One of the scammer on EZYPG – Fully Furnished (PG) results having a Google Account from name “Ravi Agarwal”
    He tricks and responds to a question like this “(Translated by Google) call me 🤙 nine two zero five two six one five four five

    When you contact to M. no. 9205261545 on phone, he will send the photos and PG rent details.

    A person will talk to you on WhatsApp like a PG owner, he will send a QR code of rohitrohit95300@okhdfcbank (Google Pay UPI ID named Rohit)

    Intially he will say pay the security deposit/ booking amount now, and refund it later. But then he will say you have to pay GST fee of Rs. 1560 more to confirm the booking, I will send you the amount of 1560 back in five seconds. Then he will not agree to cancel the booking, say it will be only cancelled if you pay the GST fee, and then I will refund
    When you ask for his employee ID, he will send you an Aadhaar Card of Anil Kumar Gupta 8435 9975 4243.

    This is a attractive scam of online PG booking, he will not refund any amount but will ask for money telling different reason. “Aapki payment vaapis nahi ho sakti, aapki booking complete nahi 50% hui hai, aap pahle booking complete kardo fir aap cancel karwa lena” He never agree to refund, soon his profile picture from whatsapp will be removed, you debate more with him, the photos, QR and messages he will delete them.

  3. I had a similar experience where I paid ₹2000 for the creation of a visiting card. After providing all the details, the person asked me for ₹6000 more due to some error. He promised to refund the whole ₹8000 if I paid the additional amount. I was not comfortable with this and didn’t pay the additional amount. After a long argument, he cut the call and didn’t provide a refund for the ₹2000.

  4. I paid the 2000 rs deposit which the manager asked and then he was asking 6090 or 6999 something which I straight away refused so then he said he will not return any money paid and hung up.
