I purchased a product ” Loius hutch solid wood cabinet” as a gift for my friends house warming through pepperfry on Aug 8 2020. The product was supposed to be delivered around Aug 20. I got a call from warehouse stating that product is ready to be delivered. I gave the person my address. After that no response from the warehouse or pepperfry. I waited two months thinking the delay was due to COVID as the status was showing as en route. Then I called peppery after two months on Nov 9 after no response from them.
The customer care agent said the product had a defect so they have cancelled it and will be iniating the refund upon my confirmation. I asked her why they did not notify me that the product was detected before the delivery date or as soon as when they found out. Why did they make me wait for 2 months and tell me the status after I called them. She simply said sorry, it got missed.
I told her I dont need refund and to deliver the new product.
I checked their website and they were still delivering the product. So I asked her to send me the product and do not need a refund. To which she said that the product price has gone up and I should pay extra.
When pepperfry found that the product was detected before the delivery, they should have replaced that with new one as they are selling more of the same product online now. It does not make sense to make me wait for two months and then cancel the order and make me pay extra for the same product after two months.
Not only they took money from me for two months but also making me pay extra for same product now. This is down right fraudulent scheme.
And they are also using customer care agent to harass me into accepting the refund. One of the customer care agent guy called me and harasses me for almost 1.5 hrs over the phone bullying me to accept the refund at lower price of the product.
