Text of Complaint by Sunando Banerjee:

I had ordered food for myself and family from Kolkata Heshel Mumbai through the Zomato Food delivery app. My family includes my son who was not keeping well and who had to take rest after having dinner and medicines. While it was supposed to be delivered by 9:20 pm on 23.12.2020 (as was displayed on the App), no one turned up till quarter to 10 pm the same day. While the food was ready as confirmed by the restaurant on call, on following up with Zomato through their Chat feature (all Chats attached), first it was confirmed that the rider was not reachable, then the rider had picked up the order, subsequently asking for a cancellation and refund. If the rider had picked up the order, why was it to be cancelled….basically they did not have a clue of what was happening.  On calling the rider, he did not pick up the phone. On Calling Kolkata Heshel, they confirmed that the rider had never contacted them. When I wrote that I would reach out to the top executives of Zomato and possibly on Social Media + Consumer Court also, a refund was initiated hurriedly. This is not the first time that this is happening and may be with other Zomato customers also. if a Food Delivery App is supposed to do Food Delivery, is this not tantamount to cheating customers after charging them but not delivering food on time? Hence, I am filing this complaint against Zomato today. Kindly penalize the Company with the most stringent measures which sets a precedent for the future including Financial compensation to me for the disservice made. Request a reply at the earliest possible.
