My Netflix account was charged the monthly fee for the cycle – 22nd October 2018 to 22nd November 2018 twice. Once on 22nd October 2018 and once again on 24th October 2018. I immediately reported this to Netflix via the chat box on their website. I was informed by Kenrick Michael that this is a commonly reported issue from India and that the company is looking into this. I was told that there is no way I could get a refund until their investigation with my bank is complete. I was told it could take upto 30 days. I received no refund or communication from Netflix after that. On contacting them on 20th February 2019 with regards to this refund, I was blatantly told by Anthony John through the chat box that as 4 months have passed, there is nothing Netflix can do about it and that I should contact my bank. This is an absolute violation of my consumer rights as there was no communication in the interim from Netflix to me and as the company that has erroneously charged my card, they are obliged to keep me in the loop of whatever “investigation” was being conducted. I highly doubt any investigation was even conducted and this seems to be a major scam by the media giant. Shameful on the brand and the rude employees handling their live chat. I have trascripts and screenshots of the two (24th October 2018 & 20th February 2019) conversations. I was not sent the transcripts by Netflix for the second chat despite having ticked the check box for the same.
