Jio customer care is appalling–everything is automated and to get in touch with a human is next to impossible.
I am aUK resident with frequent visit to India and hence I wanted to keep my JIO SIM active for Indian Use. I do not use it when I am in UK and just need the SIM to remain in roaming to get OTP and SMS and make call during travel.
GEnerally all UK sims go into roaming in India automatically and the SIM is Pay as you Go with roaming charges.
I expected the same with JIO SIM as well but when the SIM was inactive as soon as I came to UK, I tried contacting JIO customer care and that was a nightmare.
The website says of IR packs of 1101/- for 28 days validity and I wanted to check if I had to constantly put this money in every month even if I did not use any of it on roaming but just wanted the SIM active.
After several attempts of whats app , chat etc, I finally connected to the number(after a million trial) +917018899999 on12th August , evening(IST) and one customer service person clearly said the following–
1. IR pack need to be filled for the first time activation
2. IT IS LIFETIME activation but the talktime (933/-)is valid for 28 days
3. After 28 days, Indian recharge amount from 10 rs-1000rs, can be topped up as per call usage at roaming charges.
4. THOUGH NOT MENTIONED IN WEBSITE THIS IS THE FACILITY OF IR ACTIVATION
Listening to above and being confirmed on repeatedly checking that roaming will remain active without further Rs 1101/- activation, I did IR recharge of 1101/- on 13th August
Now the Sim was still not getting activated and while I was trying myself, I contacted JIO through whats app again. The lady took a longtime to even understand what was the problem(the Sim was not going to roaming) and while I was writing to her, I sorted it myself.
Just to confirm that what I was told on 12th was true, I talked about this Lifetime validity but she completely DISAGREED and said , I had to keep recharging 1101- every month to just keep the SIM alive and receive text. So even though I will not use JIO service when I am in UK, I keep paying 1101/- every month and not use any of the talk time, because I dont need it!!
She DISAGREED that her colleague yesterday mentioned the LIFETIME activation and that it doesnt exist.
What is this ?? A joke??
I was misguided to recharge the amount ???
The man on the phone on 12th convincingly told me it was a lifetime roaming activation with subsequent Indian top up as per requirement. How could he say that if that is not the scheme??
