1. Weight Discrepancy Fraud
Shiprocket makes a commission from courier partners. They get customers like small businesses to ship with them as they have low prices. What they do is : Lets say I have a box that is 15 X 15 X 10 cms . This is below 0.5 kgs. Their courier partner will now suggest oh no the box is 15.7 cm X 15.7 cms X 10.2 cms . This makes it go above a weight class and then they charge us Rs.100, Rs.200 more. I have lost an average of Rs. 2500 every week due to this. Our dimensions are always accurate . We have also tried to fix this through their guidelines. They suggest on their youtube channel that I should upload images with dimensions and weight for EACH ORDER. and we started doing that at great expense. We still get these discrepancies. Then they said oh you need to freeze your weight. Which basically involves a tediously long process of clicking photos, uploading skus and a long waiting period for approval. But i still got a weight discrepancy because they said I added a keychain to the order!!!
2. Fake delivery and unnecessary RTOs.
On a weekly basis Shiprocket aids courier companies to make fake attempts. Claiming that a customer has rejected a parcel. When thats absolutely not the case in at least 80% of instances. They have a long tedious process to fix this. You have to get the customer on call record their phone call, upload it on the dashboard along with a chat screenshot for written proof. Even after doing all this they sometimes don;t hold the courier company accountable and let the parcel get marked for return. Why? Because now they get to make a comission not just from forward shipping charges but also return. I have even been charged courier charges in cases that they lost the shipment.
The issue that occurs is. While I am a client of SHiprocket and the courier company a service provider. By neglecting to assess fraudulent behaviour of the courier companies they make more money in commisions. Through weight discrepancies, through RTOs, and honestly much more. I can bet my life on the fact that at least 10% of Shiprocket’s revenue comes from aiding courier companies to commit fraudulent acts against its sellers as they make a commission from it themselves. This is not a small thing. This can actually quite easily be a class action lawsuit
