Text of Complaint by M. Ishaq Geer:

I have seen people complaining about services offered by BSNL quite often on Facebook but rarely do I see anybody complaining about Airtel. Let me narrate my own ordeal today. For the last two years I have not been able to use internet on my airtel number despite paying for it every month. Over the past two years I might have made more than 100 calls to customer care service @121 wasting several hours of my precious time besides making numerous personal visits to customer care service centres but to no avail. Problem seems to be that they are not able to detach an add-on number that I have surrendered and inactivated two years back from my account as a result of which I am neither able to change my plan nor able to use internet. At customer care centre I am being told that their system doesn’t show my name and particular whereas all details are available when I myself log into my web account. However my web account directs me to My Airtel Thanks App for a plan change whereas latter shows error and inability to change it. Upon calling 121 first I am told that my account is individual but on digging deeper I am told it is consolidated/attached. I don’t understand what kind of redundant and obsolete system they are using that readily accepts bill payments but can’t resolve a petty technical issue. I have been using Airtel since 2005 and qualify to be a platinum customer as per their definition, for whom they claim to provide a red carpet welcome at their service centres besides priority service whereas I am not able to receive even basic service. I receive email from CEO of airtel Gopal Vittal regarding better services but upon complaining there is no redressal in sight. It seems that apart from being at the verge of getting bankrupt as per news reports Airtel is going to collapse soon. I wonder to what extent they can go in making false promises to customers besides cheating and dodging them.
