Text of Complaint by Ravi Shankar:

During recent business trip through my company, I had carried my personal phone to be able to use my apps wherever wi-fi was available.  I had not requested Airtel to activate International Roaming as I had a company paid phone to use for both voice and data which I used as needed.

Airtel contends that my international roaming was active when I traveled to Germany between 13th Jan – 25th Jan 2019.  They claim that is was based on the fact I had activated the same service for 30 days when I traveled overseas in Aug 2018.  I recall specifically asking the service representative in August 2018 about various plans and opting for a 30 day International Roaming plan.  After my travel was completed I expected the International Roaming plan would expire as I had opted for a 30 day plan.

Airtel had unfairly charged by Rs 3999 + taxes for a service that I have not requested in my January 2019 Bill.  Upon raising a complaint they contend that I am liable to pay for the incoming calls and messages received which I still contend that I have not voluntarily sought to do.  They have given me a credit of Rs. 1993.02.   I have not made a single outgoing call from my personal phone during this period nor tried to use airtel’s data plan during this period.

I request you to please review this grievance and resolve my case at the earliest.

Thanking  You,

Sincerely,

Ravi Shankar
