My name is Arpitha,
I have been incorrectly charged Rs 5000 on my September 2018 mobile bill by Vodafone. I activated international roaming on 30th of August as I am on a holiday overseas for 8 weeks. In order to receive my OTP from my bank i needed roaming on my phone. When I checked with the Customer service team at that time, Mr. Nikhil who was the advisor on the line told me that the service costs Rs 149 for the entire month and therefore I agreed to activate the service which he did for me.
After I received the mobile bill I was surprised to see Rs 5000 as One Time Charge on my bill. When I called the billing team to dispute the charge, they advised that they cannot cancel the charges as the service that I activated was Rs 5000. When I informed that the earlier advisor had activated the service for me and did not give me any kind of intimation that it would cost me Rs 5000, the advisor asked me escalate the matter further to the complaints team. After several attempts of trying to reach someone, finally Mr. Ananthan got in touch with me who instead of being helpful was absolutely rude and showed no empathy towards the situation. In fact in one of his e-mails he even suggested taking the matter to court, when I suggested that they can listen to the call recordings if they require confirmation.
This has been an absolutely horrifying and stressful situation for me on my holiday because vodafone has kept calling my emergency contacts regarding an unpaid mobile bill which they are aware is currently under dispute. This is mental harassment as I have been dealing with this problem with a company that I have been associated with for so many years.
I wish that you look into this as a matter of urgency and try and find a solution.
