First they contacted on whatsapp regarding a part time job opportunity, I was contacted by +91 7739999929 fake name perhaps Bagiya.
Then I got added on a telegram group where tasks were distributed, some merchant tasks and some google maps review task. They pay pennies like Rs 50 or Rs 20 for each review but after day 1 they start pushing merchant task. Here I first paid 9000 and assured a sum of 10,800 in return. I was later told that if I dont complete part 2 of the task, I can’t get the money from part 1, so 55000 more. Then comes part 3 of 1 lac more. This is where I smelled something funny as they gave another task of Rs 4 lac. And I said I couldnt proceed forward with this. They again said that I cant get my money back if I don’t continue with the task, I have to finish all.
I tried to convince to get my money back at least, told them all fake reasons that I would die if this goes away, my family will be left homeless as we were poor etc but that didnt budge the people in that group. They still kept asking for the money.
This is a modern Jamtara scene. There were many people like me getting added to those groups. I am posting it here for resolution and awareness of others.
I lost my 1.6 lac in 2 hours and have lodged a complaint in cybercrime government portal as well.
Please steer clear from such schemes. Thieves will remain thieves. And I hope either consumer forum or cybercrime can get me to my resolution.
