In 2017 I had taken up a credit card while I was working at an MNC and I used to pay all my bills before time until the COVID happened. However during the COVID, my father who is now missing for the last 2 years used up my credit card with out my consent and HDFC bank did not help me block my card even after repeated calls to their customer care. I could not lodge a police complaint too as I wouldn’t feel all that great about myself to lodge a criminal complaint on my own father. I tried to pay back as much as I could but due to the lockdown and me loosing my job, I couldn’t pay a single rupee for close to a year and that’s when I went through a long phase of torture and harassment by the HDFC bank executives and the collection agency. They tried to blackmail me by calling from a police station, threatened me that I’ll be dragged out of home and beaten to pulp if I don’t pay immediately, they even went to the extent of following my younger sister from her work place to home so that they know my current address. They have even contacted my friends over Facebook and Instagram and told them about my debt. I have decided to not pay the bank or the collection agency a single rupee due to the amount of depression and harassment they have caused. I am looking for legal help in Bangalore to fight a case against the culprits. Please help!
