In August 2020, the Times of India reported that a gang defrauded investors with a supermarket franchise offer for Grocery 4 U Retail Private Limited, an unlisted private company incorporated in Uttar Pradesh in February 2020. The fraudsters allegedly provided interiors and logistics to open four stores in northern India between 2019 and March 2020 to gain the trust of investors who paid Rs 25–30 crore for the franchise scheme. The stores were located in Delhi’s Hari Nagar, Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, and Punjab’s Ludhiana and Batala towns. As of August 2020, eight FIRs had been filed against the accused at the Phase 3 police station, following complaints from investors in various states.
