I started using Freelancer.com during this week. I applied for one of the projects named: Convert the file offering 600-1500 INR. The project id is: 29644712. I got its notification due to my skills in typing. The user name was aditya007pandey8. The membership also started for this user around the same day I applied for it. Thus there were no ratings for him and no projects other than this. This project claimed a security deposit of 1500INR. The employer texted me on the freelancer.com website only and told me that I will have to pay the security money before any work is given. I asked questions about the job and the deadline. Unfortunately I found the project genuine and forwarded payment through UPI payment. He asked me for my Adhar card which I wasnt comfortable sharing so he moved on to asking my mail id. I gave him. He later sent me a document on Technical Instructions regarding the job of typing and converting the jpg file into word an then pdf. I signed the document online, with the date. He delayed his response in going through the form saying that many hirings are going on. I let it go. The next day I put a message on his email address asking when I could expect the project. I texted on his freelancer.com chat to which it says that I cant send messages to the person. I received no response. I then mailed him today telling him that I expect a response after 24 hours of no leads. I went to check out the account of this user and I saw that the account is closed. My money has gone and this was the first job I had applied for. I dont know how to go forward with this as freelancer.com has apparently no solution for this. I have reported his account as fraud on the app I used to pay him.
