Fraudulent transaction in my CITI Bank Credit Card on 28-01-2023

Text of Complaint by Tapash Kumar Palit:

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is to inform you that I am a regular user of your CITI Bank Credit Card 5546 3702 2178 2458.

On 28-01-2023
I have received phone call who introduced himself as a Suzuki Service personal & sent me a link for servicing of my motorcycle. When I clicked on the link Rs 1/- was being debited from my CITI Bank Credit Card & within a moment Rs 19,751/-, Rs 5,000/- & Rs 5,000/- were also being debited from my Citi Bank Credit Card.

Immediately I was informed Citi Bank Customer Care about those fraudulent transactions and blocked my Credit Card. During the discussion the concerned person also blocked all those four fraudulent transactions & given me the blocked details which are mentioned below:

Rs 1/- =          I2301280012 dated 28-01-2023
Rs 19,751/- =     I23011280013 dated 28-01-2023
Rs 5,000/- =      I2301280014 dated 28-01-2023
Rs 5,000/- =      I2301280016 dated 28-01-2023

The Customer Care person also told me that all four transactions blocked so their claim will not be granted by the Citi Bank so they will not get the money from Citi Bank.

After that I was lodged a complaint on local police station at Bally PS and Bally PS also recommend it to Howrah Cyber Cell Police Station vide GD No 1838 dated 28-01-2023

But on 1st February,2023 I was received a call from Ms Albina of Citi Bank having Telephone Number +912261312800, she informed me that since all those transactions were done through secure OTP so the bank cannot hold the payment & suggested to contact with Citi Bank Legal Authority.

I am surprised that as this case is under Police enquiry & also Howrah Cyber Cell PS investigating that how come Citi Bank told that they can’t hold the payment? Because when I informed the customer care 1st time about those fraudulent transactions the person told me that all payment will be on hold, but yesterday the bank told they can’t hold the payments, the statements were contradictory. It means Citi Basnk doesn’t bother Police enquiry neither they respect Government Authority.

In this situation kindly note that being a retired person I am not in a financial condition to pay Citi Bank Rs 29,752/- for all those four fraudulent transactions hence request you please cancel my Credit Card immediately for which act of your kindness I shall remain ever grateful to you.
