Text of Complaint by Rohit Anand:

Received a call from an executive by the name of Saksham on behalf of shine.com and he explained a set of services that will be offered on the platform against a payment of INR 3k. The services included Resume Booster, Career Assessment Tests, Visual Resume and WhatsApp Job Assistance. I made the payment for availing the services.

After the payment, Mr Saksham kept me on call and sent me another payment link of INR 5k. On inquiring the same with him, he says that this payment of 8k needs to be done on an urgent basis to activate the services, a payment that I wasn’t made aware of beforehand. Trusting Hindustan Times’ name, I made the payment after assurance from his side that this will be the last step and now my resume will be edited by content writers and my profile will be eligible for some assessment tests and WhatsApp assistance with a minimum of 2 jobs a week matching my profile, all promises done by him on behalf of shine.com. I made the payment again trusting Shine.com and Hindustan Times.

But after the payment I was again approached by Saksham for a payment of INR 8k in the name that this final payment is necessary otherwise my resume will not be circulated among the top recruiters. Also, the payments that I made till now may stand useless. I was infuriated by the scam that was happening but the name of Hindustan Times kept me from over reacting and I simply urged for a complete refund on grounds of misinformation provided by him, trapping me in this series of payments.

But this guy Saksham kept on insisting that I avail the services. I asked him a very simple final question “ Will all the services you promised of will be provided after this payment or will there be more honeytraps like this, more hidden payments like this?”. He replied it’s the last step and then I will be getting job opportunities within a week.

Believing him was my biggest mistake. I made the payment after this promise. But after the payment was made, he generated another payment link of INR 13k. Can you believe it ? And he even stated things like if you want money’s worth then pay this and make payment quickly as this is the office closing time. I said give me a refund I don’t want your services and he was again insistent that the payment needs to be done. I did not proceed with the payment this time.

This counts as a fraud, providing misinformation and incomplete information to the customers. All I appeal to a firm like Hindustan Times and Shine.com is to look into how their names are being sabotaged in the market by such “sales and marketing” executives. I had a talk with customer care and she assured me that the matter will be resolved by senior executives ASAP but still waiting for the call. I demand swift action not only on the problem but also on employees like Saksham who are cheating customers.
