I was contacted by a person called Akanksha, who claimed to be calling on behalf of shine.com.
She mentioned that my resume has been shortlisted for some companies and she would send me the name of 5 companies on my mail id. However, I need to pay a registration fee of Rs.100 for availing a reference number and associated service.
She asked me to do registration on a site called “shineregisters.net”(image attached). I opened the website (while she was on call) and filled the details. She asked me to fill Rs.100 in the amount tab.
While proceeding for payment, I chose credit card payment option. There was a delay in receiving the OTP. The first OTP message was asking for payment deduction of Rs.19751(even though amount mentioned was Rs.100). The second time I refreshed and requested an OTP, the requested amount on the message was Rs.48696.
I confronted her saying that it asks for a huge amount when the amount input is Rs.100 only. She asked me to share the OTP message with her, but I denied. Further, I refused to do any other registration or payment and she disconnected the call.
