A lady named Sakshi called me and said that she is calling from Vivah Sanstha. Since I have registered with the local marriage bureau I thought she is calling from the same. She sent me a profile of a guy which seemed too good to be true. She said that if I like the profile I should send my profile and pictures which would share with the guy(This was the first time I felt something fishy since I had already registered why would she ask for my profile again?) But I sent her my profile again and had no hopes that the guy would like that. But I received a call next day saying he liked it and would want to talk to me. So we fixed a time for call. She called me at the specified time and added the guy on conference. She asked both of us to not share any contact details. We had a small chat where he told me he and his parents really liked my profile. So we decided that we will discuss further once we exchange numbers. The lady said she will exchange our contact nos. only after registration (Here I was confused again as If this lady was calling from the same bureau where I registered why is she asking me to do the same again?) After we got off the conference call the lady called me separately saying she explained the registration process to the guy and he has agreed to do it. Once I do it she will create a profile for me on their portal. She sent me packages they had to offer and asked me to do the payment. I asked her that what marriage bureau is she talking from and where did she get my number from, she very smartly avoid the question and said that the bureau is in Nagpur and works throughout Maharashtra. She even sent me the QR code for payment. I dont know what clicked me at that moment, but as soon as she shared her bureau details I googled them and got to this page where several people have shared same experience. It was a fraud. I dont even think the guy I talked to was the person from the profile she sent me. He must be someone who was committing the fraud along with her.
I thank people who have shared their descriptive experiences over here. If they wouldn’t have I am sure I would’ve been scammed. Thats the reason I am sharing my experience here. Please do not fall for this scam. Please verify the details of the person when they say they are calling from some marriage bureau. I hope no one falls for this fraud.
