Text of Complaint by DHAYESH SUVARNA:

I, MR. DHAYESH SUVARNA HAD PLACED AN ORDER FOR TWO MOBILE PHONES WITH AMAZON VIDE ORDER NO. 408-9231165-3550762 AND 171-0581061-3403510 RESPECTIVELY ON 14TH OCTOBER 2019 AMOUNTING TO RS. 7400/-. I RECIVED A SMS ON 17TH OCTOBER 2019 THAT THE PARCEL CONTAINING THE TWO MOBILE PHONES WOULD BE DELIVERED TODAY, I WILL HAVE TO PAY BY CASH OR CARD.

AN AMAZON DELIVERY AGENT NAMED MR. NAGAARJUN ARRIVES WITH THE PARCEL AT 16:15 HRS WITH THE PARCEL, AND REQUESTS ME FOR PAYMENT IN CARD AS HE IS CARYYING A LOT OF CASH AND ON HUMANITARIAN GROUNDS I SWIPED MY BANK OF BARODA DEBIT AGAINST THE POS MACHINE PROVIDED BY THE DELIVERY AGENT AS PARCEL WILL BE HANDED OVER ONLY AFTER PAYMENT AS PER AMAZON POLICIES.

I GET AN INSTANT DEBIT OF RS. 7400/- MESSAGE FROM MY BANK AT 16:17 HRS CONFRIMIMG THE PAYMENT. THE DELIVERY AGENT PULLS OUT THE PACKET FROM HIS BAG AND WHILE HANDING OVER THE PACKET THE NECK AND CAP OF BOTTLES ARE VISBLE FROM THE PACKETS. I TOLD THE DELIVERY AGENT THAT I HAD ORDERED FOR TWO MOBILE PHONES AND THIS PACKET CONTAINS TWO BOTTLES VISIBLE FROM THE SIDE.

ON MY GRANTING HIM THE PERMISSION HE OPENS THE PACKET AND WE FIND TWO PEARS BODY WASH BOTTLES WORTH RS. 360/- IN IT. I SAID THAT I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE PARCEL AS IT DOES NOT CONTAIN THE GOODS ORDERED BY ME. THE AGENT MAKES A FEW CALLS TO THE AMAZON DISTRIBUTION CENTRE AND TAKES AWAY THE PARCEL CANCELLING MY ORDER AND PROMISING ME A REFUND WITHIN THREE DAYS.

AFTER FIVE DAYS I MAKE A CALL TO THE AMAZON CUSTOMER CARE ASKING FOR MY REFUND. AT FIRST THEY DENY RECEIVING ANY PAYMENT AGAINST CANCELLATION OF THE ORDER.

I CALL THE DELIVERY AGENT ASKING FOR MY REFUND HE SAYS THAT YOU GO TO THE DISTRIBUTION CENTRE AND MEET THE MANAGER ASKING FOR YOUR REFUND. I CAN DO NOTHING AS I AM ONLY A DELIVERY AGENT.

THE NEXT DAY I VISIT THE AMAZON DISTRIBUTION CENTRE SITUATED AT MOTA COMPOUND, DR. E. MOSES ROAD, WORLI, MUMBAI, ON MEETING THE MANAGER AT FIRST HE CLAIMS THAT I HAVE NOT PAID AS I HAD NOT ACCEPTED THE PARCEL. ON HIS REFUSAL OF PAYMENT MADE I SHOW HIM THE SMS RECEIVED FROM MY BANK TOWARDS DEBIT OF RS. 7400/-. HE THEN CHECKS HIS RECORDS TO FIND TRACE OF MY PAYMENT MADE AND CLAIMS THAT PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. HE THEN REQUESTS ME TO SPEAK TO THE AMAZON CUSTOMER CARE CENTRE FOR THE REFUND OF PAYMENT.

NOW ITS ALMOST 270 DAYS FROM THE CANCELLATION OF THE ORDER AND I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND. I MUST HAVE SPOKEN TO NEARLY 20 CUSTOMER CARE AGENTS AND SENT UMPTEEN NUMBERS OF MAILS BUT TO NO AVAIL. ALL I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING IS FLATTERY & APOLOGETIC MAILS ASKING FOR GRACE TIME FOR THE REFUND TO BE PROCESSED. A FEW OF THOSE MAILS ARE ENCLOSED HEREWITH FOR YOUR READY REFERENCE.

WHEN I DEMENDED FOR A BANKERS CHEQUE IN MY FAVOUR FOR THE REFUND AMOUNT, AMAZON DENIED IT SAYING THAT THE PROCESS DOES NOT INVOLVE ANY MANUAL ACTIVITES.

AMAZON CLAIMS THAT THEY HAVE SENT THE REFUND TO MY BANK ACCOUNT VIDE REFERENCE NO. 000000000214 AND BANK OF BARODA WORLI BRANCH CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NO SUCH REFUND IN THEIR ACCOUNT. WHO IS REALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY REFUND?

THIS TRANSACTION HAS NOT ONLY GIVEN ME MENTAL AGONY AND STRESS BUT ALSO RUINED MY DIWALI CELEBRATIONS AS I DID NOT RECEIVE THE MOBILE PHONES ORDERED NOR DID I RECEIVE THE REFUND. RS. 7400/- MEANS A LOT FOR A PERSON LIKE ME WHO EARNS A MONTHLY NET SALARY OF 15500/-

KINDLY DO THE NEEDFUL AND EXPIDATE THE MATTER SO THAT I RECEIVE MY REFUND AT THE EARLIEST.
