Text of Complaint by Subhendu Dutta:

I had ordered a Home Full Engineered Wood 3 Door Wardrobe – from Flipkart – the Online Shopping website. The Order was placed on 12-10-2021, 10:57 AM – IST. As soon as I opted for Cash-on-delivery to ensure safe payment, I had to pay Rs 2000/- upfront, and the rest Rs 14590 on delivery. I had to wait for 13 Days and got my Product and henceforth Mail confirmation on Oct 25th , 12:41 PM. The Installation and Demo – as stated was scheduled on 26th October, 2021. As expected the Engineer arrived from Jeeves Agency and opened the Planks of Woods, packed very meticulously in carboard packaging, for completing his work. But to his and my surprise, the first plank itself was broken – out-of-the box. He requested me that I will raise a Return Request, and you need not do anything. I agreed. He took photos, and within a few minutes I received the mail stating the Return Request in process. Today I found that the Customer Care has no information, whatsoever about any return request raised. I had to place the “Return Request” myself. Though the term Return Request seems to be returning the Customer their money – it’s not the case.

Return Request as per Flipkart is Replacement Request. As per their Policy – such as product cannot be returned, even if the Product is damaged in transit or it’s their fault. The sufferer has to be the customer no matter what. Even if I want to return the damaged product I cannot do so as I am a Customer and I have to bear the damages, no matter whoever is at fault.

Why cannot the customer just ask his hard earned money back in return of the product ? Why replacement and nor refund ?
