Ms. Preethi Ramesh,
103-Paras Darshan CHS,
Plot No.30, Sector-13,
Khanda Colony, New Panvel (W).
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been residing in the above rented house for the last three years having Mahavitaran Electricity Consumer no.028650054344, Consumer’s Name: Mr.Laxman Malkai Katare (Kalamboli Sub-division). This time I got a surprisingly high electricity bill of Rs. 4,390/- showing the no. of units consumed is 865 units for the month of July 2020.
When I approached the office to complain about the same they are saying the bill is prepared on the basis of the average consumption of the last three months where the meter reading was not taken physically and they are insisting to pay the current bill.
I have read some explanations from the authority regarding the billing. They are telling the people are sitting at home for 24×7 and they are using all the fans, ACs and other electrical gadgets for the entire day which caused the consumption so high. If they can consider it in this way, they have to consider the use of electric iron, water heater etc. also which we have never even touched in the last three months.
My bill is showing the consumption of 865 units, which is equivalent to my five months total consumption units. I have included my consumption units for the last 12 months for your perusal:
2019 August-195 units, September-180, October-170, November-189, December-159,
2020 January-147 units, February-105, March-123, April-125, May-125, June-125,
2020 July – 865 units.
But this is not the correct way of calculating the energy bills. Please don’t think that we have started any factory or Small Scale Industry inside our house during this lockdown. In between, we were asked to upload the meter reading through the Mahavitaran App, if you were about to use some kind of magical calculations there was no need of uploading the reading.
Sir, we are facing a lot of financial issues in this lock down due to salary cut or no income. Instead of providing some kind of concessions or discounts in such a crucial time, the Mahavitaran is giving such kind of high-volt shocks to the common people.
I request you to review and issue the new bill based on some kind of sensible calculations. Otherwise, obviously, it is a kind of violation of rights of common people.
Hope you will look into the matter.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Ms. Preethi Ramesh
