Today morning at 11.45 am I got a call saying my parcel has been delayed and to press 1 for more information.
I did so as I had no idea which and what parcel this was about.
The person who came on the line informed me that he’s from FedEx Mumbai and that my parcel *to* Taiwan has been held up by Customs as it contained illegal items.
When I told him that I had not sent any parcel and that too, to Taiwan he responded by saying I have your name and telephone number here.
Which were correct.
The address was of Worli which I told him was wrong since I live in Delhi.
He then said I also have your Aadhar number on record. Seems someone is misusing it and sending illegal goods to Taiwan on your name.
What made me suspicious was his panicky voice telling me I was in deep trouble.
He asked if I could give him my Aadhar number. Though he had it in record he needed my verbal confirmation….Which I refused saying I was going to do no such thing to a voice on the phone and that I will wait for the Customs to send me a written notice.
Customs Dept has given a tweet that such calls from FEDEX are a scam and fraud.
