Worst experience with Airtel India, duping customers with false marketing, and incompetent staff for resolution of issues.

Got an Airtel Digital TV connection installed at my place on 22nd July 2019 after getting a call from the sales team of Airtel, stating about an ongoing offer wherein they were providing a voucher for Google Home mini within 4 days of installation.

On the day of the installation, the connection stopped working and started throwing an error with the Code AITV001/002 for which I lodged a complaint.
The technician came over the next day and did some fixing after which the connection worked for a while and started throwing the same error over again.
I (now a little frustrated) made a complaint call again, and they finally had to replace the set-top box as it was faulty. (Issue resolved)

Cut to 25th July, I still haven’t received the voucher. So, I call up the Customer Care, and they say that I will receive it within the next 24 hours.

It’s now 26th July and the promised 24 hrs are long over, and I still haven’t received any voucher. Disgruntled with the treatment, I call up the Customer Care once again, and this time they say that they are not aware of any such offer.

If that’s the case, why didn’t the team I had a word with the previous day, inform me about this? Why the discrepancy?
Anyway, they say that they will have to investigate the matter and I provide them with the number I received the initial call from. The number is genuine, so they say that they’ll get back to me within 24 hrs with the best possible compensation.

27th July, no response whatsoever from the team. I take up the matter to Twitter and I’m assured that it will be resolved till the evening. Again, no response.

I called them up again this morning, feeling harassed & frustrated to the core and ask for a full refund, and surrender the connection. The guy says that they will take 24hrs to disconnect and initiate the refund (God knows I hate the phrase ‘wait for 24hrs’ now!). I demand to speak to his supervisor, and when connected to him, he says that they won’t be able to refund me the money as the connection is now activated, and that does it for me!

For being a loyal Airtel Broadband and Mobile connection customer for over a decade, this is what I get in return!

I’m now stuck with a connection that is still intermittently giving issues, have been a victim of false marketing, and incompetence of the Airtel Customer Care in resolving my issues.
