Text of Complaint by Sunil Mathew:

It is with utmost disappointment that I am sending this email to you. I have been a Vodafone customer for more than 13 years but the service standards have dipped considerably of late.
This October, Vodafone decided to stop providing 3G service in Mumbai which is OK considering the fact that 4G and 5G is the way forward. I was using a 3G SIM and since moving to 4G was the way forward, I approached the Vodafone Mini Store at I C Colony, Borivali West. The staff was courteous and polite and assured me with a new SIM card with the same number (9819277691 – Postpaid). Being a customer for so many years, I thought this would be a smooth transaction. My PAN card photo was clicked at the store along with my photo and I was informed that the new SIM will be activated within 2 hours and the old one will get deactivated. This was on Saturday, 24th October at 8 pm.
I waited for 2 hours but the new 4G SIM was not activated. I decided to wait for another 48 hours hoping that the activation will happen but even by Monday, 26th October the issue was the same. I approached the store again and this time, the person told me that there was an issue with my ID document (PAN card)!!! I have never changed address all these years and this was the reason given to me!! I was still patient and then was told that my Driving Licence was enough. Again the picture of the licence and my snap was taken and the 2 hour promise was repeated. As usual it never happened and then I called Customer Care on Tuesday, 27th October in the morning to complain about the delay in the activation. I received a SMS stating that the resolution will happen by 6 pm on the same day but as usual, the promise was never fulfilled.
When I sent out a Port out request, someone from Vodafone called me within 5 minutes to enquire and I told him everything. His response to that was vague. He told me to go to another Store and not to this one. I have got nothing against the person at the store in I C Colony as he was polite but I wonder if the system is fine. However I am done with Vodafone after all these years and tomorrow being a Wednesday, I am awaiting for the code to be sent and then approach Airtel or Jio to switch providers. Very disappointed with the lack of commitment shown by Vodafone. Pathetic…

Regards,
Sunil Mathew.
