Text of Complaint by Reema Godbole:

I own a Chevrolet diesel car (Manufactured by General Motor India). The car was bought in July 2015 and came with 3 year warranty and we purchase extended warranty for next 2 years also. Company offered First 3 service free and when the car went for 4th servicing the cost was informed as Rs 11,000/- so I refused there servicing and service my car Local garage with charges around Rs 7500 also fourth servicing was done at the local garages. But my vehicle visited the authorized dealer every six month for problem or the other

Now in Dec 2017 the car issue with A/c cooling and radiator fan. On the first day itself we told them that there some problem with radiator fan. But they only the fuse and charged Rs 6290/- A/c gas refilling. But the problem persisted hence car was again taken to dealer now the bill was made of Rs 11000/- for changing condenser pipe and radiator fan motor (detail complaint enclosed). Since car was under warranty and said the repairs has to be under warranty. But the denied warranty since the servicing was not done at the authorized dealer which is unfair for the consumer

 I am enclosing competition commission of India notice Case 03/2011 Dated 27/07/2015 whereby it’s mentioned

 “OPs are directed not to impose a blanket condition that warranties would be cancelled if the consumer avails the services of any independent repairer. While necessary safeguards may be put in place from safety and liability point of view, OPs may cancel the warranty only to the extent that damage has been caused because of faulty repair work outside their authorized network and circumstances clearly justify such action. “

Please note this is malpractices adopted by General Motors India Pvt Ltd and its dealers to loot its customer in aftersales services. There is absolutely no competition provided by the company as their only one dealership in thane.

They charge very high for routine maintenance of the cars and then if don’t get the servicing done at their dealer workshop they will void the warranty against the law and the consumer.

Majority Indians believe that the warranty of the vehicle gets void if you service your vehicle outside the dealership but this is not true. Please help me in spreading awareness in people and my right to get my vehicle repaired under warranty.

My car is still with dealer from 23 December 2017 and the threatening  us to make the payment and take the car or parking will apply @ 500 per day. I am sending all the document conversation with the company.
