I wish to bring to your attention that representatives of Encore Asset Reconstruction Company Pvt. Ltd. have been reaching out to me claiming that there is a pending due amount against my SBI Credit Card account. As per their communication, the alleged outstanding amounts are as follows:
Principal Outstanding: ₹118.30
Interest: ₹4,405.26
Charges: ₹4,648.16
Total Outstanding: ₹9,171.72
I am concerned about the validity and accuracy of these claims, especially considering the disproportionately high interest and charges compared to the principal amount. I believe this may constitute unfair or excessive charging practices and harassment by recovery agents, which fall under deficiency in service and unfair trade practices as per the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
I therefore request the Hon’ble Consumer Forum to:
Direct Encore Asset Reconstruction Company Pvt. Ltd. and the State Bank of India (SBI) to provide a complete and transparent statement of account with a detailed breakup of the amounts claimed.
Instruct the concerned parties to cease any coercive or harassing recovery measures until the matter is verified.
Investigate and take appropriate action against the parties involved for any unfair or deceptive financial practices.
Grant any other relief deemed fit in the circumstances of the case.
